March 28, 2007: This is for Roy.
And this is Roy’s story
Roy came to us from a shelter, a kind, gentle, older soul
Roy then found his own home, just a year ago
Then we got a call
His home had dumped him
When he needed them most
He had gone a full circle and ended back in a shelter
By no fault of his own
So, once again we got him out
And brought him home because
Once you are part of Heavenly Hearts, you are always part of Heavenly Hearts
Today Roy went to his forever home
He was in too much pain to carry on
The pain in his body and the anguish he was feeling
Was too much for this special boy to endure
We tried so hard to get him well but it was not meant to be
Roy didn’t die alone
He didn’t die in a shelter
He died in my arms today
He has left a spot in many hearts
For Roy was a kind and gentle soul
Remember when you adopt them
And bring them to your home
We’ll take them back if need be
Don’t let them die alone
They don’t deserve a shelter death
They deserve to have us there
You wouldn’t leave your child
To die somewhere strange and alone
Don’t leave your pet
Your dog or cat
To cross the bridge alone
